The leader in transportation technology solutions has been recognized for enhancing Danone’s transportation network efficiency.
Green Bay, Wis., Sept. 13, 2023 – Breakthrough, a leading transportation technology solutions provider, is one of five suppliers in Danone’s 50,000 global supplier network recognized in this year’s Partner for Growth Awards program. Danone is a leading global food and beverage company pioneering innovative food, drinks, and specialized nutrition products that can positively impact health. Breakthrough was recognized for its transformational work to drive efficiencies within Danone’s U.S. and Canadian transportation networks.
Launched in May 2023, the Danone Partner for Growth program aims to drive end-to-end value creation for Danone and its partners under four interconnected pillars – Science and Technology to unleash innovation, Precision Capacity Creation, Cost Competitiveness, and Sustainability.
Breakthrough and Danone partnered in March 2022 with the goal to create efficiencies in Danone’s transportation network, starting with its fuel reimbursement strategy. Initially, the partnership focused on Danone’s Canada operations and later expanded into the U.S. in August 2022. In just over one year after implementing Breakthrough's strategic Fuel Recovery program, Danone reduced their fuel spend by more than 20%. This reduction in transportation spend created efficiencies in Danone’s transportation practices, in turn allowing Danone to remain cost-competitive for consumers.
“This award illustrates the significant strides Breakthrough has made in enhancing Danone’s transportation network’s efficiency, and we are honored to be recognized,” said John Teggart, president at Breakthrough. “Danone’s willingness to embrace innovation and its commitment to growth is a crucial factor in the success of our collaboration, and we look forward to our continued partnership focused on driving transformative change.”
Energy used in transportation remains a volatile cost, and research shows it can comprise up to 30% of a shipper's transportation spend. On top of this, shippers have historically relied on a national average fuel price, such as the DOE index, to reimburse their carriers, resulting in disruptions and unknowns for shippers and carriers who rely on the index for data, forecasting, and analysis. Breakthrough’s Fuel Recovery solution fills a need that this gap creates as the transportation industry’s only market-based fuel reimbursement solution.
