Breakthrough's CleanMile Solution Receives a 2023 SEAL Sustainable Service Award
May 16, 2023
The leader in transportation technology and sustainable solutions is recognized for their innovative service that sets a new standard for sustainability in the supply chain.
SEAL (Sustainability, Environmental Achievement & Leadership) Awards is an environmental advocacy organization that honors leadership, innovation, and commitment to sustainable business practices. Breakthrough was recognized for its CleanMile service, the transportation sector’s first end-to-end emissions management solution for scope 1 and 3 emissions that gives shippers the framework and support to track, plan, and execute decarbonization initiatives. CleanMile sets a new standard for scope 3 emissions reduction, which typically comprises 80 to 90% of a shipper’s carbon footprint and is notoriously difficult to track and reduce.
2023 SEAL Sustainability Award honorees ranged from well-recognized brands to high-growth start-ups and scale-ups. Also among the award winners were a few Breakthrough clients, whom were recognized for their achievements and contributions to making a positive impact on the planet. Breakthrough is incredibly proud of the complete list of honorees who are prioritizing environmental responsibility.
“We’re honored to be recognized among leading companies dedicated to actualizing a real, measured approach to fighting climate change,” said John Teggart, President of Breakthrough. “At Breakthrough, we have an opportunity and innovative solution to support shippers with the smart technology, robust data, and expert support necessary to decarbonize their supply chain. Despite many companies equating decarbonization to higher costs, optimizing cost and carbon simultaneously is achievable. Looking ahead, we will continue to invest in digital and physical systems and services to enable transportation emissions reduction for the world's leading shippers.”
CleanMile is accredited by Smart Freight Centre (SFC) in conformance with the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) framework. Designed to inform business decisions and steer efforts to reduce emissions, SFC’s GLEC framework is the only globally recognized methodology for harmonized calculation and reporting of the logistics GHG footprint across the multi-modal supply chain. CleanMile collects, analyzes, and mobilizes load-level transportation data to establish an emissions baseline, recommend reduction initiatives, and take action.
“Granularity was the theme of the 2023 sustainability awards. Across all industries and geographies, companies are going deep and granular - into materials, chemistry, processes, R&D, and more - to generate sustainability improvements,” commented Matt Harney, Chairperson and Founder of SEAL Awards. “Corporate ESG leadership - like our 2023 honorees have demonstrated - is absolutely needed to address our climate crisis.”
