Over the last decade, Whirlpool Corporation traveled over 1.6 billion miles with Breakthrough®Fuel, reducing their cost, consumption, and emissions along the way—and the results speak for themselves.

“Whirlpool ISC has become an industry leader in managing our fuel consumption and minimizing our carbon footprint through our partnership with Breakthrough®Fuel,” said Jim Thompson, senior manager, transportation. “The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay® program has recognized us multiple times for our environmentally friendly shipping practices — and based on current Breakthrough®Fuel benchmarking data, our energy efficiency per movement is 40 percent better than all other Breakthrough®Fuel customers and 70 percent better than other shippers that are not partnering with Breakthrough®.”

Breakthrough®Fuel agrees: “We are very proud of our partnership with Whirlpool,” said Jenny Vander Zanden, vice president, Fuel Recovery. “Their innovation and leadership in the movement of goods is second to none. As partners, we’ve improved the efficiency of the Whirlpool supply chain and reduced impact to the environment.”

The 10-year relationship has resulted in reduced diesel fuel consumption of 7.5 million gallons by way of improving miles-per-gallon efficiency—that’s 76,910 metric tons of CO2 emissions reduction.
